In recognition of the 13th anniversary of the horrific Sandy Hook shooting (December 14 in Newtown, Connecticut), NCJW Colorado is holding a vigil for victims of gun violence. Our vigil will coordinate with our National organization’s participation in 13th Annual National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence in Washington, DC., sponsored by Newtown Action Alliance Foundation, formed as a grassroots response to the Sandy Hook tragedy.
While gun violence has reached epidemic levels across the United States (NCJW reports that over 1.3 million Americans have been killed or wounded by guns since Sandy Hook), here in Colorado we are acutely aware of the toll of gun violence. In Colorado, hundreds of people have been killed or wounded since and including the shooting at Columbine High School in 1999 – 13 school shootings and other high profile tragedies such as the Aurora Century 16 movie theater, Club Q in Colorado Springs, the Boulder King Soopers, and too many other incidences of mass murder.
Please join us on December 11 at 5:30 pm for prayer, readings, and reflection as we remember these children, parents, loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
Location will be shared after registration. There is no cost
You can register for the Vigil here or scan the QR Code.
Please help us “honor all Americans impacted by gun violence and stand united in our shared goal of ending the gun violence public health crisis in our nation.” (Newtown Action Alliance Foundation)
