Documentary and Discussion: Into the Fire American Women in the Spanish War

March 10, 7:00 pm

Zoom

You will have access to this award winning documentary film to watch at your leisure from March 6th to 10th.  Then join us for a panel discussion (with Q&A) on March 10th at 7pm via Zoom. The film tells the stories of women who volunteered to help fight the fascists during the Spanish Civil War.  It has archival footage of 16 out of 80 American women, many of whom were nurses and some (especially of the 16 women highlighted) were Jewish.

Panelists include filmmaker Julia Newman, board member and former executive director of The Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA) – an non-profit educational organization inspired by the American volunteers and dedicated to promoting social activism and the defense of human rights; Maria Hernandez-Ojeda, Associate Professor at Hunter College and current Vice President of ALBA’s Executive Committee of the board; and Margo Feinberg, attorney and daughter of Helen Freeman Feinberg, one of the nurses featured in the film. The event will kick off a Nurses’ Appreciation Drive in our community.

There is a $10 fee to get access to the film. Payment can be made by check, Venmo (@NCJW-ColoradoSection), credit card or Paypal (see below).  Questions? Please contact Michelle at michellegkr@comcast.net or (303) 332-7637
