JOIN US FOR A TRIP TO THE BORDER

MAY 30th – June 2nd

The National Council of Jewish Women Colorado Section is leading a 4-day, 3-night trip to the US-Mexico border from Tuesday May 30 –Friday June 2, 2023. This immersive experience will take us to the borderland between Mexico and the US, with our base in El Paso, Texas. We will explore immigration issues in the context of our shared Jewish values and engage in face-to-face encounters with asylum seekers, people escaping persecution and human rights violations, and those applying for legal entry into the United States.

As Jews and allied friends of Jews we have a strong connection to issues of immigration. Many of us children and grandchildren of refugees, making this trip especially meaningful. This trip has been designed in coordination with Abara Borderland Connections, an organization committed to promoting cross-border connections and understanding. Come with an open heart and mind to be touched and challenged by the experience.

Space on the trip is limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis with people who can fully participate, all applications are due March 20th. See the tentative itinerary, learn more and apply here. Questions? Contact Tracey at tkdouglas@comcast.net or (720) 244-9063.

Please note: Prior to the trip we will have four planning meetings to prepare for our experience, March 30th, April 18th , May 9th and May 23rd (some meetings will be by Zoom and others in person). Each session will focus on a different aspect of immigration. More information to follow. Even if you are unable to come on the trip, you are welcome at these sessions.

We hope you will join us for this amazing experience!
